Education
From 2010-2021 I worked as a Community Based Transition Program (CBTP) teacher for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS). The CBTP provides training and community-based field experiences for students with disabilities aged 18-22 who have completed high school.
I am proud to have co-led a “Student-Directed IEPs” presentation at Partners in Education Conference (2019-2021) and Tennessee Disability Megaconference (2020).
In May 2019 I was awarded the "Exemplary Educator Award" by The Arc Tennessee. Additionally, I assisted with producing an informational video for the MNPS exceptional education transition program and I developed the department's transition website.
I currently work as a Post Secondary program teacher with West Hartford Public Schools. The Post Secondary Program provides IEP-driven transition instruction and functional experiences for students with disabilities aged 18-22 who have completed high school requirements.
Advocacy & Community Involvement
While in Nashville, I served as the president of The Arc Davidson County & Greater Nashville's Board of Directors from 2019-2021. Additionally, I was involved with Best Buddies Tennessee in several capacities, as a volunteer in the Citizen's adult friendship program and coordinator of Vanderbilt University's college chapter. In 2015 I joined the board of directors at Transit Now Nashville and continue to advocate for an accessible transit system for Nashville's residents.
I currently serve on the Programs & Services Committee as a member of the Board of Directors with Harc, Inc.
Music
I have written and recorded four original self advocacy-themed songs with young adults with disabilities. In addition, I worked with young adults with Williams Syndrome through the Academy of Country Music's Lifting Lives Music Camp at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, recently serving as the Assistant Music Director from 2015-2019.
